Scottish Government funded development of software for tracking the movement of sheep throughout the country via RFID tagging.
Project involved development of a core services library, Java applications for both desktop and mobile devices, and all supporting backend web services. The system integrates natively with various models of mobile and fixed RFID readers, making it suitable for use in both the field and at auction marts.
Development of a large content-managed website featuring a bespoke Ruby on Rails CMS affording end users immense control over the layout of some 650 pages and painless management of more than 1,250 documents and images, as well as interactive elements such as form submissions, polls and payment gateway integration.
I was also responsible for the build & CMS integration of ~30 HTML/CSS templates and supporting Javascript.

I'm a freelance software contractor living in Scotland with a love for solving tricky problems with code. I have a strong coding ability in both algorithms and architecture, a good sense of UX design/aesthetics, and can talk business as well as tech.
Over the years I've built complex web applications, large content managed websites, an iPhone game or two, and helped the Scottish Government keep track of its sheep. I've also written a bunch of open source software, some of which is used by a site or two you may have heard of.
In decreasing order of preference I (have) work(ed) professionally with Ruby/Rails, Cocoa, Javascript, PHP, C, C++ & Java.
